Correspondent Codes of Conduct

Correspondents must accept the following codes:

  • Correspondents will not accept payment from anyone in relation to any activity to do with The Pivotonian.
  • Correspondents will disclose any Conflict-of-Interest should any activity to do with The Pivotonian have any bearing on any matter in which the Correspondent or their family have a pecuniary interest.
  • Correspondents will not approach any person for interview without first obtaining approval from the editor(s).
  • Correspondents will not publish any information that may interfere with or hinder law enforcement or the legal process.
  • A Correspondent must be honest, polite and modest in any situation where there is a possibility of obtaining material for a Report.
  • A Correspondent must identify themself as a contributor to The Pivotonian in any situation where there is a possibility of obtaining material for a Report.
  • Correspondents will be objective, fair and as balanced as is humanly possible when writing a Report.
  • Contributors will not publish any material that may expose someone to embarrassment, financial loss, criminal legal action, civil legal action or detriment unless such publication demonstrably serves a greater public interest.
  • Correspondents must reference and/or provide the editor(s) with the means to verify any information that is contained within a report.
  • Correspondents will provide their by-line with every Report.
  • The Pivotonian may use, or may not use, any report at The Editor’s discretion.
  • All Reports may be edited and used in any way that The Editor(s) sees fit.
